- Protocol-based Learning: Review multi-media background material to enhance your understanding of a mock phase II protocol, OCTAVE 129. Protocol-based Learning is intended for investigators, clinicians, lab staff, and educators who want to learn more about the scientific and operational issues involved in clinical trials of HIV vaccines.
- Article-based Learning: Delve into selected journal articles to improve your understanding of experimental methods and the presentation of results and conclusions. Article-based Learning is intended for students and trainees interested in learning more about the scientific literature and in acquiring skills required to design experimental protocols and/or write scientific papers.
- Laboratory SOP-based Learning: Discuss assay-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) written in the Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) format. These SOPs are enhanced with pop-ups, graphics, and animations to illustrate how these assays are performed. SOP-based Learning is intended for laboratory staff at all levels to gain a fundamental understanding of laboratory SOP structure and content.
- Case-based learning : Explore a clinical scenario to understand such topics as migration and homing of effector and memory lymphocytes mediating a type IV hypersensitivity reaction as seen in the Mantoux test or review how expedited adverse events are documented for NIH Division of AIDS-sponsored vaccine trials. These activities use novel problem-based learning software applications developed by HSeT.
